Callan Morrison's First Term Record
Callan Morrison has served on Port Moody city council since 2022, when he was elected with more votes than any other council candidate. In his first term he was present for 129 of 132 recorded divided votes, helped pass family-friendly housing rules and resident-first recreation registration, moved to expand the Ioco overpass, and pushed for cost scrutiny on city projects.
What Callan moved forward
From his work on council, in his own words on the campaign homepage and platform:
- Family-friendly housing rules. The family-friendly units policy, brought forward in 2024, ensuring no more than 30% studios and a minimum of 35% two- and three-bedroom homes in new multi-family projects, with minimum unit sizes to BC Housing standards added in 2026.
- Residents first at the rec centre. Port Moody residents now get two days of advance registration for recreation programs and summer camps, made permanent after a one-year pilot. Passed unanimously.
- The Ioco overpass. His motion to expand the CPKC overpass near Ioco Road, aimed at up to 40% reduced travel time between Moray and Suter Brook Village, with completion scheduled for 2027. All related motions passed unanimously.
- The boat launch to user-pay. Moving it to 100% user funding, saving taxpayers $125,000 a year.
He asks what things cost
In September 2025 a new building policy for city facilities came to committee. Callan was one of two votes for an amendment that would have shown the cost of meeting provincial codes alone next to the cost of going beyond them, so council could see the price difference before committing. The amendment was defeated 2–5 (committee minutes, PDF). He voted against the policy that passed without that comparison.
The budget he voted for this year was a 3.95% increase for 2026, the lowest of the term, adopted unanimously in April.
